Famed U.S. photographer Spencer Tunick, known mostly for staging massive shots of naked people in public places, says he feels more comfortable working in Mexico than in the U.S. because of the open-mindedness of the people.

In May 2007, Tunick broke a world record by uniting more than 18,000 Mexican’s in Mexico City’s capital plaza, the Zocalo, for nude group photos.

Male and female volunteers of different ages stood and saluted, lay down on the ground, crouched in the fetal position, and otherwise posed for Tunick’s lens in the city’s massive central plaza, also known as Plaza de la Constitución.

In this country I feel more comfortable than in the United States because Mexicans are more open to new experiences. You can dialogue with them, something that doesn’t happen in Texas.” - Spencer Tunick

Tunick’s new exhibit won’t be of his typical nudity in mass urban compositions but instead of portraits he made of individual Mexican models. He has announced announced that in April he will open the new Mexican exhibition at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco in Mexico City.
