Hey Miss Universe: If you found the Soldiers, Terrorists, and Torture of Gitmo Fun and Relaxing, You'd LOVE Mexico

Let me begin by informing you I don’t generally hang out reading girly blogs. Okay, so maybe I am subscribed to a few, but definitly not the Miss Universe site; however this little suprise was just too juicy to pass up. HEY, Don’t laugh, even macho Latino men love to hear the latest chisme.

So, here’s la Sopa: Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza, recently took a little girly road trip with Miss America 2008, Crystle Stewart to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. It appears, according to her recently removed blog post, the only problem the two had in Gitmo was someone from the U.S.O. didn’t find it necessary to fill them in on the fact that they weren’t on Springbreak at Club Med Cuba.

Upon returning from here trip, the Venezuelan beauty had this to say:

This week, Guantánamo!!! It was an incredible experience.

We arrived in Gitmo on Friday and stared going around the town, everybody knew Crystle and I were coming so the first thing we did was attend a big lunch and then we visited one of the bars they have in the base. We talked about Gitmo and what is was like living there. The next days we had a wonderful time, this truly was a memorable trip! We hung out with the guys from the East Coast and they showed us the boat inside and out, how they work and what they do, we took a ride around the land and it was a loooot of fun!

We also met the Military dogs, and they did a very nice demonstration of their skills. All the guys from the Army were amazing with us.

We visited the Detainees camps and we saw the jails, where they shower, how the recreate themselves with movies, classes of art, books. It was very interesting.

We took a ride with the Marines around the land to see the division of Gitmo and Cuba while they were informed us with a little bit of history.

The water in Guantánamo Bay is soooo beautiful! It was unbelievable, we were able to enjoy it for at least an hour. We went to the glass beach, and realized the name of it comes from the little pieces of broken glass from hundred of years ago. It is pretty to see all the colors shining with the sun. That day we met a beautiful lady named Rebeca who does wonders with the glasses from the beach. She creates jewelry with it and of course I bought a necklace from her that will remind me of Guantánamo Bay :)

I didn’t want to leave, it was such a relaxing place, so calm and beautiful.

Hey Miss Universe: If you found the Soldiers, Terrorists, and Torture of Gitmo Fun and Relaxing, You'd LOVE Mexico

The truth is Guantánamo Bay, Cuba is beautiful, it is the U.S. possessed Guantánamo Bay, Cuba terrorist camp that is not. Cuba, itself, is an incredible country which I am sure holds endless amounts of fun and relaxation amongst it’s beautiful blue waters, just not to suspected terrorists: the closest they’ll get to water is through waterboarding, and I doubt that is very relaxing.

In all fairness, I think, her quote was misinterpreted and lost in translation, either that or the years of hair treatments and massive eye makeup have finally leached into her beauty queen brain and left her with nothing but a teeny, tiny, atrophied sliver of once gray mass. If the latter of the two is the case and she truly did find the soldiers, terrorists, and torturous settings of Gitmo beautiful, fun, and relaxing, please, let me be the first to invite her to Mexico; she’d find our narcos to be an irresistable, breathtaking delight.

You have a point, I’d don’t think their is any I.Q. prerequisite for being a beauty queen.

Beauty is needed by nature to target the health of her gene’s and have health breed with health and humans are so conditioned to this that they bestow many gifts to these people just because of their beauty while hurting or killing millions of ugly humans
I will never give beauty any more attenion than ugly and it took time and concentration but was worth it
I lived the live of beauty and found guilt in my head all the time- until i shook natures trick

Have you ever met anyone who you did not find particularly attractive, but after you got to know them, decided that they were much prettier than you first thought?

People’s actions color your opinion of their attractiveness. So, to me, Whoopie Goldberg is beautiful and Tom Cruse is an ugly little troll.

With all due respect beauty mates with beauty and we can look at the matching of humans and we will find very few that didn’t follow what we were evolved to do ,and of course we might find less beauty in someone when we get to know their true personality ,but i will bet my life that you wouldn’t marry an ugly person and stay from youth until death ,because the egg and hormones are looking for the best chance of survival and ugly doesn’t give that- as nature sees it
Now emotion will cry and say no ,but a person of logic knows the difference

AH! Then you guessed wrong....30 years of marriage and counting and smart wins out in nature, not beauty.

”beauty mates with beauty”, but then again, beauty isin the eyes of the beholder.

I do know what you mean, though.

I think my wife is beautiful, inside and out; but as a teen/young man, my initial attraction was the fact that she was so different for me:blond, aqua eyes, fair skin and the fact that she was taller than what I was accustomed to seeing in Mexican girls at that time.

On the other hand, even at that age, I found it attractive that she was humble, she was studious, I always found her hanging out reading a book, vs. being in the gossip girl groups.

I think, now that I’ve matured, I see things differently, but it is difficult to say that (IF i WEREN’T MARRIED), even, now, that a physical attraction would have NOTHING to do with my selection....

I think in the end, we all have our own personal view of beauty..Some people DO only care about the physical, while others choose to look beyond.

Beautiful people might mate with other beautiful people but how often are those parings successful?

Maybe we are born with better sensibilities and just conditioned to an ideal of beauty.

I am pretty sure that if you are raised by shallow parents you are more likely to choose physical beauty over substance.

I hate beauty because it only favors a small portion of humans and makes the rest suffer in it’s drive to match beauty with beauty
The world would be more fare if we evolved blind and had to interpret without sight

Again no disrespect, but i would have to see a picture of you and your mate at your time of youth and then see if the match was one sided or not
There are a few ways that you can over come this by using fear , money ,isolation, and blindness, but to trust an imbalance is not wise by nature

It is not an imbalance, it was a matter of taste. Pretty was just something that happened to me when I reached puberty, it wasn’t part of my identity. I asked out a lot, but I knew they just asked because of the way I looked. They didn’t want to talk and play games, they didn’t laugh at my jokes and they didn’t make me laugh. They were handsome and boring. So I stopped accepting dates unless the guy was interesting, I made a list, looks weren’t even on the list. I had to start asking guys out because the interesting ones were afraid to ask me. I had to try extra hard to get people to see past what was on the outside and see the real me. I still have to deal with it sometimes, people expect me to be stupid and fit the dumb blond stereotype. I refuse!

Nuya:

I’m glad to see you stand up, it seems it is definitly NOT easy, with stereotypes, for women to make their mark in this world.

My wife has battled the same: somehow keeping in shape and being blonde and green eyed supposedly meant she was nothing more than a a pretty face and should aspire to be nothing more, than arm candy...WRONG!

It took even longer for her to squash those thoughts, here in Mexico, where her looks are quite noticeable amongst th waves of our Latin genes...but like you, she MADE people see HER, what she is made of; what she feels and the incredible thoughts and intellect which make up her person.

This is one point i guess we will have to disagree -respectfully of course
I studied human nature and the evolution of the gens for many years and i found it disappointing nature was never wrong
I have given skeptics many tests and when finished not one could say nature was wrong on how she gathers beauty to find beauty ,because beauty signifies health and health means a better chance of the new gens making it to fruition
Nature doesn’t care about the emotion we call love because it is just a hormone trick to get people to stay around long enough to bring up the new gens and after a few years that feeling is filled with comfort zones
To find truth one has to strip emotion and very few on earth can
Beauty is like drinking both blind humans to the dangers of the process

Wayne,
You have fascinated me once again, that is why I enjoy ”speaking” to you.

I never enter a discussion or debate with intent on ”winning”, I enter with my personal thoughts, always hoping to leave the discussion with a tiny bit more ”enlightment”.

I can not claim to know studies of gens nor evolution, to me, it always seemed one or the other:nature works in mysterious ways or we just found a way to manipulate, at least we think we do.
all I can say, is after chatting, I always feel I’ve come out ahead...with another little piece for me to contemplate in trying to learn more of life’s puzzle..Thanks

Intelligence not beauty is the determining factor in success. Bill Gates makes more money than Tom Cruse. Tom Cruse has never had a successful relationship and never will. Beautiful people tend to self destruct.

You like Aneez have a open mind and a mind not locked by soical brainwashing and it is nice to talk to people without feeling your talking to a blank wall
Oscar -there is no right or wrong to any ones views or conversations ,there is only exchange of opions and thoughts
We are not a self but a mixture of many self’s which makes noting we say original
The beauty of this discussion is in time it will fade like the effects gravity has on beauty to indecate it is no longer needed and out of cync for breeding

I liked hearing your story and if i were a god i would be proud of you for fighting off natures natural instincts
We evolve a certain way over millions of years and few are able to fight the process
To fight off the natural flow you must have a very independent mind and the earth could use more people like you to improve the mess that men put us in– with their over powering testosterone
Thanks for a bit of insight on yourself as it will help understand your posts and comments better
Take care and be well -Wayne

I am not sure that it is not just conditioning that causes people to make the choices that they do.

I praised my children on their kindness, fairness and encouraged their intellectual interests instead of focusing on looks. So that is what they grew up to value.

They are both brilliant, kind and very socially conscious, Not the least bit shallow.

If we could convince more people to value intrinsic beauty and value good character over buffoonery we could overcome evolution.

I don’t know if making fun of dingbats like the one in this article is the way to do it or not.

Do you have any ideas?

Nuya:

I have three children aged 11-22: oldest is in med school, middle son is preparing to enter prepa, and my hell on wheeles, baby girl.

Each one, looks nothing like the other, upon first glance. Our daughter has blonde hair and green eyes, one son has black hair and black eyes, and the other light brown with honey eyes. Of course, for my wife and I, all are the most beautiful creatures walking the face of this earth.....

However, we have, like you, worked hard to instill strong values, fairness, equality, in them all the while stimulating their intelelct..I’m sure you and Wayne know, that’s not an easy feat living in the world we do.

I, like you, am extremely proud to say my kids ARE different than the majority of kids their age I see around me..They are confindent in themselves and their believes, they are courteous, intelligent, and compassionate.

I wonder, too, what happened in the world? Has beauty always been the only focus, or as a whole, is the world simply drifting futher an further from reality?

Oscar, that is awesome! My biggest congratulations on your wonderful family, it is one of life’s finest achievements.

@Wayne
It is always better to lead by example than to preach. I was fortunate to be able to teach young children for many years and give them good examples to take with them in life. Since children absorb everything they see and hear, I decided long ago to behave as if a child were watching me even when they weren’t. It kept me always thinking of my actions and the consequences.

It rubs off on people after awhile and if you just keep doing it, others will slowly start to copy it. Keep smiling, it will change one day, like you say, one person at a time.

Just by following some of your good ideas would help a lot and not using woman as objects of man and not bestowing special gifts and rewards for noting but their beauty
We need a lot more woman making world decisions and running some of our dizzy counties
For now thou, men are still in charge ,so we will have to put
up with their overpowering drives for a long time YET - i am afraid
Woman have to stop men from making them fell inferior to man
Nice to see you are doing a good job with your children and i can sence your pride and love for them –Keep up the good work because things improve one person at a time

”Keep up the good work because things improve one person at a time ”

Those seem to be the golden words, Wayne. I think if the world began focusing on bettering themselves (ourselves) first as individuals, and then actually took the responsibility, time and effort into instilling it in their children, we’d see some positive change, at least in the future.

”Woman have to stop men from making them fell inferior to man”

Very good point!

My daughter is a scientist and she used to say that she felt like she had to live in a lab coat to have men take her seriously. After awhile the men saw how competent and confident she was and now there is no problem.

I think a lot of women think they have to be male bashers to get their point across but nothing could be farther from the truth. Some guys are stubborn and chauvinistic, but most are reasonable if given a chance.
