I did not lie: I only killed 10,000, the rest died of fear

The Plague was on her way to Baghdad when she came across an old man. He asked, “Where are you going”? The Plague answered, “To Baghdad to kill 10,000 people.”

After quite some time, the Plague came upon the same old man who very angrily announced: “You are a Liar! You told me you were going to kill 10,000 and you killed 100,000.”

To which the Plague responded: “I did not lie. I only killed 10,000, the rest died of fear.”

This short Anonymous text seems to back recent investigations regarding the influence of Influenza A-H1N1 has had in causing a world wide alert.

As the world panics under a W.H.O. level 5 alert, scientists are now beginning to doubt the aggressiveness and ultimately, the lethality, of the fairly unknown globe trotting virus. Many are beginning to wonder if Pandemic Paranoia was ever in order.

In observing the deaths derived from the seasonal flu, which repeats every year, more than 13,000 have died since January in the United States accrding to the CDC. Across the world, each year, seasonal flu is attributed to the cause of death of 250,000 -500,00 persons.

Where too many precautions taken? Has the world over reacted? I, personally, do not have any answers. I hope this virus does prove to be non-pandemic. I am both thankful and proud of the way our President, Secretary of Health, and citizens have acted in efforts to prevent and contain this mystery virus. I am proud of the way the world has reacted in unity against a common unknown virus.

I feel the actions taken in this event where well founded. For this as well as futures events of a similar kind, the world would be much wiser to overreact than underreact. This event has also opened eyes to very real vulnerabilities within each nation.

In the end, we did what was necessary in facing the unknown, always better to be safe, than sorry.

It’s the organizations that relay the updates of the WHO and the CDC that have been creating the alarmist message.

The health organizations have always been steadfast in declaring that there is no risk in eating pork and pork products, that there is no need for travel restrictions, and that there is no need to close the border.

No matter, as far as giant pharma is concerned, the production of 1-2 billion vaccine units specific to Influenza A (H1N1) is underway and will be ready in less than 4 months, to be made especially available to developing countries.

We only need to recall that (other highly lucrative) scourge called HIV/AIDS.

A recent headline from a reliable paper caught my attention. It said the A(H1N1) outbreak was so sudden that it looked like biological warfare.

I admire Mexico for doing what it had to do and how the country handled the crisis.

Congratulations, Oscar, for this article. One of the best I’ve read in a while.

Thanks Grace.

I’m sure you noticed the latest headline from one of the Tamiflu makers concerning it being a ”human error virus” created in a lab and accidently released......

Amazing how WHO investigated it and RULED IT OUT in less than 18 hours.

Unbelievable. Keep living in fear sheep. More Americans die from the normal flu per year than this silly thing will kill.

You are correct.

If I have learned anything, health wise from this ordeal, it has been to get my seasonal flu shot!

This isn't about swine flu. It is about creating the kernel of fear that will be used to usher in nationalized health care. Every time we get scared about something we just shovel over more power to the government and they know it.

Guys, a piece of advice;

In India, we say that death is something that we do not have control on.

It is predestined. So the simple formula should be, take the precaution from the disease and leave the rest on the destiny.

Humans are not gods and cannot control everything

Right you are.

Here is a perfect example:

A man was recently found dead here in Mexico. He was found with antibacterial gel and wearing his surgical masks. OMG. How could he die with such extreme precautions?

Apparently he was a narco and was shot by a rival... come to find out gel and face masks don’t prevent bullet wounds.

This is true that the panic created causes more fatalities rather than the disease itself
