For the low price of $39.95 Target, ToysRus and other American stores are offering a complete illegal alien costume for you and your friends to hit the streets in style this Halloween.

The costume, which is fabricated by Forum novelties, is one size fits all and comes complete with an alien mask, a plastic green card and an orange jumpsuit with the words ILLEGAL ALIEN printed on the chest.

“He didn’t just cross a border, he crossed a galaxy!” according to the costume’s description. “He’s got his green card, but it’s from another planet! Oops, looks like you took too long to decide. Sorry, you’re out of luck; they’re already being pulled from stock after The Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights of Los Angelos and various Hispanic organizations have demanded the politically incorrect costume be recalled.

It’s “distasteful, mean-spirited and ignorant of social stigmas and current debate on immigration reform,”- Angelica Salas, director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles CHIRLA)

“To have something out like this at this point and time makes it very painful for a lot of people. A large corporation such as Target should be sensitive to that.” - Ray de los Sontos, LULAC member

The costume makes a “mockery of the status of millions of immigrants in need of Immigration reform,”- Jorge Mujica of the activist group the March 10th Committee.

In Target’s defense, they have pulled the costume from their internet site claiming it was inadvertently uploaded to its Web site due to a data entry error.

I understand the immigration debate, or actually the illegal immigrant debate, but personally, I still don’t see the harm. Okay, maybe my vote doesn’t count because I’m not an illegal alien, but I just think there’s more important issues in life than Halloween costumes, regardless of what they may be.

I see alot of stores are selling pregnant nuns, prostitutes, bloody murderous goons, EMOS, pycho-clowns, fat tourist and geisha costumes. I have not on the other hand seen the Catholic Church, Weight Watchers, serial killers, prostitutes or any other type of activists trying to halt their sales.

If one wanted to get technical, the costume is incorrect in the fact that the illegal alien is holding a green card. Green cards are for legal immigrants, and last I heard, they were actually a pinkish color. I don’t see anywhere that the costume actually says MEXICAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT or WETBACK. I wonder if any other immigrant activist are protesting. Have you seen any Chinese immigrant activist protesting? afterall, every immigrant legal or illegal has to cross a border to get into the U.S.

Could it be Hispanic Immigrant Reform activist are just a little over sensitve? Or maybe I’m just a bit insensitive.
