I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.

To my dear Mexican illegal compatriot: You are no longer in Mexico, because of that, after giving it much personal thought and review, I’m sadly going to have to agree with the United States on a big part of this ongoing immigration issue. As much as I hate going against my own nationals, if you want to be in the great American pot, you’ve got to melt like the rest.

I know you are in the United States because you didn’t have the economic opportunity to stay in Mexico. Our government has betrayed us and left us hungry, hopeless, and desperate. Although I do not agree with your illegal entry, I know how lengthy and difficult the process is to receive a legal American work visa, thus I will grant you the defensive benefit on that part of this sad ongoing issue. What I cannot and will not defend are your arrogant actions now that you are there.

We all know the history. The United States became a world super power due to people very similar to yourself. People came from around the world, leaving everything they’ve ever known behind for the American dream and opportunity of a better life. They worked long, hard days for little pay. They faced tears, hardships, and tragedies. That, my friend, is where the immigrant similarities end.

I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.
These humble immigrants united. They took bits and pieces of their diverse cultures and formed ONE nation under God. For that, they are known as the great melting pot. Somehow out of all the diverse cultures, colors, religions, shapes and sizes within the United States, our Mexican nationals are the only ones who have insisted upon staying in the pot while defiantely resisting the unifying melt.

I know many American employers eagerly hired you for jobs knowing they could abuse you with maximum hours for minimum pay, afterall, you’re illegal. They were wrong. You may feel you now have a right to demand citizenship, but you are wrong. Two wrongs will never make a right

I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.

You still don’t understand. Your refusal to join the system is wrong. You cannot demand to be a citizen while refusing to speak the language, refusing to educate your children outside of spanish/mexican schools, and segregating yourself from the American society. You cannot demand to be an American citizen while defying and rejecting the very compounds constituting that status. The United States is based on the phrase ” United we stand, divided we fall.” Check the history, they are not very tolerante towards divisions. The consequences of your actions are being dealt to us all.

I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.

For the first time since the Mexican- American war both countries have armed soldiers standing face to face. The American taxpayers are willing to work and contribute their money to building a monsterous wall aimed at keeping “us Mexicans” out. We are neighbors for God’s sake and they want to put up an enemy wall. Do you know why countries put up walls like that? To keep enemy invasions at bay.
I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.

You want to use Che Guevarra to prove your rights. Che is a revolutionary symbol. You desires and efforts may be noble, but your actions are showing hate, arrogance, and instability.

I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.
One cannot force another to love nor accept them. These gifts must be earned. You cannot earn the chance to be an American by denying what it takes to be an American, unity.
I'm sorry, but if you want to be in the pot, YOU MUST MELT.

If a “Mexican revolution” is what you want, come home, show your worth and force the reforms Here. If American citizenship is what you really wish, you will have to prove it there and the first step is to START MELTING..

Oscar,
The write up is excellent and ’You must melt’ seems to be true crux of matter in the whole immigration debate...

Hello Madhuri,
The ” Melt” is what it is about. Although for me, and I think for many others in the world, the ”melt” didn’t seem so important at first. We are talking about the world’s greatest superpower, how can a few Mexicans really get them so riled up when their entire country is made up of immigrants. BUT I had to put myself, with the help of my wife, in their shoes. How would I feel if my wife invited 50,000,000 of her ”friends” to Mexico, add those to the 500,000,000 million friends she has living here already, and they decide to unite as their own.
All of a sudden Spanish is unnecessary, I have to find a new school for my kids to continue teaching them in MY language while picking up the tab through my work, for both. I can no longer go to a restaurant or other business in MY country, because I no longer speak the language.I learn to avoid certain areas of my country, because, well, they are no longer part of my country. My traditions, customs, and national holidays are no longer deemed important, and my FLAG is ignored and disrespected.
I think it is sad, and quite frankly it is out of control. I fear for the future of my family and every family involved.
I don’t think the our immigrants are necessarily trying to change the U.S into little Mexico, but the self segregation together with constant DEMANDING is making a very loud statement.

In Mexico forced reform is at many times the only way to make our government stop and pay attention. It is seen over and over again..marches, strikes, you name it are very common, but we are forcing our own government to act, a government who OWES US. It is our RIGHT, we can’t use the same actions we use to DEMAND OUR MEXICAN RIGHTS, when REQUESTING to be given a right that is definitely not our own.
Like the plan is noble, but the execution of the plan is what is twisted. They are essentially by their actions, showing angered, rejecting discontent for the very same thing they are seeking.
Every country needs unity to not only function, but prosper, maybe that’s why in our own country we still can’t quite get things moving in the right direction.

The core problem is that the nation state is obsolete. A ”world state” is not a solution. A system based on the core idea that humans are free to move from one place to another is the beginning or the future of freedom. All else is just more geographically based slavery.
