
After six months of intense intelligence investigations, Michoacan’s police work finally paid off with the capture of one of La Familia Michoacana Cartels most valuable players in charge of coordinating the cartels synthetic drug fabrication, Arnoldo “La Minsa” Rueda Medina.
Unfortunatly the victory cries and celebrations were short lived as La Familia, in vengence, declared an all out war leading to one of the most violent days in Michoacan history with 3 federal police and 2 soldiers dead and 12 wounded.
The first attack, assumed to of been a rescue effort, took place in the Michoacan capital, Morelia, at 5:30 a.m. when a group of 30 sicarios, attacked the Federal police headquarters with grenades, AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles.
The agression, the most violent of the day, carried into the surrounding neighborhood damaging homes and vehicles. Initial investigations found fragments of grenades and more than 500 ammunition casings throughout the area. Six federal police were wounded.
At 7:00 a.m., armmed commandos attacked the Patzcuaro federal police office, leaving to agents wounded.

At 7:35 a.m., the hotel Posada del Sol, which had various federal police inside, was ambushed in Apatzingan while at 8:00 a.m., the Lazaro Cardenas federal police station was attacked. Both were without casualties.
The fifth incident, which killed three federal police, was with grenades in Zitacuaro at 8:45 a.m and the sixth attack, at 10:00 a.m. at the police station in Huetamo.
Later at 10:40 a.m., two off duty military soldiers were killed as they were walking towards their Zamora base. The last attack, was an ambush on a federal police convoy registered at 3:00 p.m. on the Patzcuaro-Lazaro Cardenas tollroad which left four agents wounded.
At the moment, two men involved in the attacks in Lázaro Cárdenas Antonio Farfán Sánchez, age 20, originally from Huacamayas, Michoacán, and Rafael Antonio Gómez Pérez, 25, from Zihuatanejo, Guerrero have been apprehended.
