"Some 2,750 people have died in drug violence in Mexico this year, a pace similar to that of 2008, when 6,300 were killed." Just a few hundred people under the death toll for 9/11, yet these lives are looked past as we continue to fuel this drug "war".

The nice thing for you all to do would be to start fueling your addicts into rehab and conseling, that way you wouldn’t have to keep sending troops and cash all over the world in attempts to quell the drugs from being fabricated and being demanded by your country...and that way your citizens wouldn’t hate everyone else and being crying ”Just Nuke them”...You could free up a tons of cash that could be used on your own people’s needs and save innocent lives in other countries.

Yes, Mexico DOES have a navy, but they tend to patrol WATER, not the hills of Chihuahua.

DEA agents are already in Mexico. There are two groups, one that works with Mexican AFI and another that President Calderon permitted entry to that works independently and only reports only back to the U.S.
Many American agencies have been asisting with intel services and special training to Mexican troops and officers, BUT U.S. military on Mexican ground would not fare well.
There is an incredible amount of friction just between the two groups patrolling the joint border, imagine having them patrolling in MEXICO?

The US should NOT send any unwanted force into Mexico, instead they should send DEA agents and perhaps some paramilitary forces to work with the Mexican law enforment agencies to crack down on the drugs trade there. See how thats different? Making friends, building bonds, but still stamping out what you want to get rid of. It appears that the drug cartels have more power then the government, so send 10,000 troops (IMO they warrant having a military force sent after them, they do have their own standing forces) to go raid every suspected drug making area in conjunction with the police would be a great step, number is ofcourse just made up, but make fighting the force with your own private army impossible. They have subs? Send in a carrier battle group. They have up armoured 4WDs? send in something like Bradley Fighting Vehicles and anti-tank launchers. They have snipers? You have UAVs with hellfires, etc.
