Thank God you answered the phone. I'm calling from Mexico and I really need Talk

You don’t know how long I’ve been trying to get in touch with you. I know I kind of wander in and out of Church, and I’ll be the first to admit I’m nowhere near Sainthood, but my faith in You has always been intact. I don’t mean to intrude by calling your private line, but I’ve tried all the usual routes to no avail and I really need to talk.

Things are a bit rough here. I’m sure you already know the situation, but let me take advantage that I finally a hold of you, and get things off my chest anyways.

I’m getting kind of tired of being bombarded with public service announcements. Life in Mexico, even for the most optimistic of people, seems to be getting increasingly heavy, almost suffocating at times. Today’s news report just kind of sent me over the edge. Where does it end? As I was listening to the news this morning I got a new warning telling me if I wake up with extreme pain in my eyes to get to the doctor a.s.a.p., as I might have dengue. Now for the past few months I’ve been told if I have that kind of pain I probably have the swine flu, but of course we also know if I suddenly experience extreme pain in my eyes and/or head, I may very well have been shot by sicarios, or at least by one of their stray bullets. In addition to the news about dengue, the headlines where: A man shot his own 15 day old son in the head, twice, bodies found in Juarez, heads found in Guerrero, and on and on and on. You get the picture, right?

We’ve got the worst drought in over 70 years in most areas of the country and flash flooding in others. We’ve got 55% of our contry living in extreme poverty while roughly a handful of wealthy family dynasties who ‘unofficially’ own Mexico and all of it’s riches. We’ve got police and political corruption off the charts, and tens of thousands of kids who won’t be allowed into school this year for lack of materials and instalations. We’ve got drugs, drug cartels, drug traffickers, drug addicts, kidnapping, extortion, torture, filth, violence, and illness coming out our wazoos.

I don’t mean to complain, I know there are alot of countries worse off than us. Please don;t think I’m looking for a handout, I’m all for the make lemonade out of life’s lemons theory, but holy shit, we’ve got entire underground bunkers lieing beneath our entire nation, stockpiled with vats of lemonade and those lurching little lemons of life still keep rolling in by the ton. We just need a bit of a break, maybe a small breather could be arranged.

Maybe you could leave the sicarios and take the pig flu, or leave the pig flu and take the sicarios. Heck, if you want, you could leave them both and just pass the dengue (and it’s hemorrhaging cousin) straight on to the sicarios and let nature take it’s course. I don’t know, I’m just tossing ideas around.

Maybe you could help move a bit of the flood to the dry crops and ranches to allow more people to eat and earn a living, or plant a seed of thought into the wealthy minds to spread some love in the form of classrooms so we don’t have our future generations left defenseless and ignorant like so many of our past and present generations.

Maybe you could help us find our way again, shine a tiny little light at the end of the tunnel so we can hope again. Maybe you could find a way to remind us that we are worth saving, Mexico is worth saving.

Thanks for listening.

En nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y el EspĂritu Santo.

Amen

There’s either a smart ass or an ignorant soul (or a combination of the two) in every crowd...Welcome to the board San...

It would do you a world of good if you read up even just a little bit more before issuing trite stock comments. Tabloid fare hardly hardly makes for sufficient reading materiele.

Too late, at least for us, looks like we’re going to be tagteamed by the two.

FYI, dengue is more sinister than swine flu. At the very least, it is more real.

Thanks Grace...

We’ll make it, I think we’ve grown accustomed to the ”lemons of life” management....

It’s just that it starts wearing on you..You know what I mean? 25 million kids went back to school today..Many without a book, or a pencil, or even a bean taco to hold them over until they return in the afternoon...and those are the lucky ones...We’ve got tens of thousands who won’t even get in school as we just don’t have the installations..

We just had 70% of federal teachers get unacceptable grades and/or fail their teaching exam..

We’ve got hardworking parents being charged plazas by narcos to stay in business. We’ve got teens being picked up, beaten and dumped for being out past narco curfew in some areas.

crops have burned and lifestock are dying..There’s no water!!!

On the other end, people are losing their humble tejabans because of flash floods and no street drainage.

We see a person sneeze or cough and wonder if they have infected us, we now get to start running from damn mosquitos and if we do get bitten, and get dengue, hope at least it’s not hemorrhagic dengue..

The heat hasn’t dropped below 39...Tercer generacions are having strokes...

We just need a little breather...
