It had all the makings of a Kodak moment; the sun was shining, young Mothers were cooing lovingly at their smiling, happy babies; life was good; until... young Mommy got arrested for packing a loaded .38 Special on her smiling, happy, four month old baby in efforts to arm and aid her kidnapping ex-hubby’s last chance make-or-break prison break.

Two women were arrested yesterday by the Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon police when they entered the city jail with a .38 Special packed four month old with intentions of aiding three kidnappers in their planned escape.

Teresa Grimaldo Barbosa, 28 , originally from Tamaulipas, hid the revolver between the baby and it’s blanket as her accomplice, Guadalupe Verónica Carranza Ávila, 37, enter holding the hand of Grimaldo Barbosa’s three year old daughter.

The revolver was to be given to Angelita Isabel Aguilar López, 32, Julio César Jiménez González, 32, and Roberto Vitela Medrano, 25, who were transported to the Caderyeta jail from Topo Chico Prison for a hearing involving their gang related kidnapping charges.

Grimbaldo Barbosa confessed to creating the plan to deliver the revovlver while visiting the three suspects on various occasions in Topo Chico before the hearing.

According to the version giving by the two women, the plan was for the suspects to overthrow the unsuspecting prison custodians during their return transport from Caderyeta to Topo Chico.

It was the last time they were going to take them to Cadereyta, it was their last chance to escape. We used the kids to throw off police suspicion and to have a place to hide the gun. We had it all planned- Teresa Grimaldo Barbosa

Police stated the now detained Grimaldo Barbosa is the ex-wife of Julio Cesar Jimenez Gonzalez and is caring for his four month old baby that he procreated with his kidnapping accomplice girlfriend, Angelita Isabel Aguilar Lopez. The two children were turned over to the State’s child welfare agency, D.I.F.

The three prisoners were arrested December 12th, 2008 along with five others after Ministerial Police rescued a young adult and a doctor who had been kidnapped and were being held for ransom in an Apodaca, Nuevo Leon safe house.

Grimaldo Barbosa’s accomplice, Carranza Avila, still just can’t seem to understand why, she too, was arrested in this seemingly perfect, yet gone awry mastermind of a plan.
