I think this is a cheap shot at a very serious illness. How could you say these people and the millions others do NOT deserve the support and global attention. It is a GLOBAL epidemic, of course it warrants HEADLINES. People are dying, obese children are ill and will possibly end up like Manuel and Jose Luis if they are not helped, if they live that long.

The man was 992 pounds! Obesity, the worldwide illness is having your BMI over 35 making it obesity class III. But getting to that kind of weight is flat out disgusting, lacking all self respect.

It is sad because a person died. But the reasons of his death, well I wouldn’t expect any other faith.

A little competition is always good but to put your health at such a risk is just retarded.

Thanks for your comment Seth...I just can’t see the need is rewarding this.I don’t think they should be condemned to die, but how can one think or demand we drop everyhting to rush to obesity’s demands...There are many more illnesses.

Perdon... I don’t think it’s a ”cheap shot” at all, in fact I’d be willing to bet, I’m not the only one who feels this way...I am NOT saying they don’t deserve support and healthcare...But noone is obligated to give it to them, and I can think of others who are MUCH more needy..in urgent NEED and are being forgotten. Why aren’t they GLOBAL news? Why is the public fascination with oddities drowning out true tragedy.

I think we should work prevention...BUT I also don’t think one mans problem can be ebough to negate hundreds..

For the cost of renting each crain, diesel truck, and lowboy platform to take Mr Urbide for his outings, hundreds of children could be fed and vaccinated...

It’s funny how my government claims the costs of taking water rations to those in the poor mountain communities is just too much, but they’ll pay for picnic and birthday outings for one man.
