I may have lost my faith in the Church many years ago, but my faith in God and our Virgin de Guadalupe is still very much in tact.

I spent a better part of my life rebeling against everything and everyone. I screwed up in my personal life as a son, a young single man, as a husband, as a father, as in general as a human being..Somehow I’m still alive to tell a few tales and still married to live and create even more..I’d have to say, there’s no other explanation, but the Big Guy above decided I was worth the chance..

I’m still not dreaming of sainthood, but I’d like to think I’ve finally got my head screwed on straight (at least on most days.)

I’m all for freedom of choice, freedom of speach, freedom of press and seperation of Church and State...but somethings you just don’t f@ck with..this, HER, the Virgin, is one of them..

the apology to us the ”people” is ok but i hope whoever intended it that also remembers to apologize to the Virgin Mary.

Deep down I still feel that this issue was meant that way - to show to the world like tha. I pray hope they pray for forgiveness from our Mother Mary and do penance.

At the risk of offending more than one person here, I really do not see the problem with this.

I’d just like to turn the question around a little. With all the shit going down in Mexico right now, who CARES about THIS?!!!!

Some may find it offensive, due to their beliefs, some (like me) may not, due to theirs.

Fine. (My call? It’s dumb, and childishly provocative, but only for those dumb enough to let themselves be provoked).

I agree altogether with the first paragraph of this post. My admiration for women needs no proving. But the lampooning of religion, or Mary, is not wrong for anyone who believes in free speech, or, who, like me, sees religion as being a negative influence on this world (is it ok if I have my point of view?).

Religious people have the right to criticise the ”godlessness” of ”infidels” like myself and my culture, and I would defend their right to do so, even if I do not agree with them. Religions, and the religious, have the right to free speech and I wholly accept and support that.

Well, that cuts both ways. Those who feel like publishing this should likewise be able to do so. Anything else is called integrism and religious control over what is, or is not, published.

And I, for one, do not accept religious lobbying and censorship of individual expression, with all the deep respect I have for all the points of view concerned.

Should it all just be one-way moralising traffic?

Sorry guys, if you want to be free to dish it out, you need to be able to take it too.....

I’m not offended AT ALL my friend..

Do I like the cover? No...Do I think it was in good taste? Absolutly NOT..Do I have a problem with men’s magazines in general? Hell NO!

For me, personally, I’m not traumatized..My faith remains the same, no more, no less. I believe in Freedom of Speach, Press, Religion, Sexuality, and more.

I don’t think Playboy committed a horric crime, but I DO think it should have been more sensitive..Playboy is generally sold with a plastic blacked out covering in the newstands, this issue presented without the covering to draw attention; good and bad.

In light of what is happening here in Mexico, for many their faith is the only thing keeping them intact, allowing them to wake up and keep moving each day..For those people, this publication was hurtful and hateful..

Like I said, I am not even close to being in a position to throw stones, wouldn’t want to even if I was, but I CAN see both sides of this coin; especially with the way it was released and the date of it’s release correlating with the pilgrimage of millions to the Virgin at the Basilica.

I don’t feel anyone should be EXILED, but I think they should just try to be a bit more sensitive to the issue at hand...

Yeah, I agree. As I said, it DOES seem to have been dumbly provocative and, I have no problem believing that, hurtful and hateful to others.

(LOL, And since when was Playboy to be taken seriously!!!:)

My only point was that any idea of stopping the publication of such childish stuff is much more pernicious than its publication.

Let’s just ignore Playboy and hope it goes away. For dumb-fucks like that, ANY publicity is better than none......

Absolutly..Attemptin to Censor would only feed the publicity they are looking for..There is NO such thing as BAD publicity..Business is Business, in fact bad more ofton than not, creates alot more Cash flow than good in literature/ recreational marketing...

I haven’t bought a Playboy in I don’t know how long, yes, the real thing is MUCH better, but I don’t think it should be removed...I would 1000 times prefer my Right to choose to buy this issure or Not to buy it, than be denied my RIGHT to buy 1000’s of other topic issues...

On another note, the apology the U.S. Playboy sent is the biggest load of B.S. I have heard in a while.. There job is to make money..PERIOD. Sex sells and Sex with Scandel sells even more..For them to say they had NO idea and that the front page was in refrence to the Renassaince era, Not the Virgin Mary and the Multimillion person pilgrimage is ridiculous..Whoever wrote the apology needs to buck up, be a man, and grow a pair of balls!

I have no problem with them printing this issue, but APOLOGISING AFTERWARDS???

C’mon, they (and people in general) should accept what they publish, or not publish at all.

I think personally that this whole thing is deliberate.

I think they did this to boost future figures. I bet you champagne that their next issue will sell like hot cakes.

And my bet is that there’ll be some really sizzlin’ hot mexican chick on the cover.

Historically, statistics show that Playboy Mexico usually shows a drop in revenue in December...

Why? Some people might ask? Plain and simple...There are two types of Mexicans: Devout Catholics and the so called non- practicing Heathens, like me..

But the kicker is even us ”Heathens” do NOT live life in faithless glory..December is a month in Mexico for reflecting, rejoicing, and being Thankful ( between December 9- 12 being the days we pay homage to the Virgin of Guadalupe (Mary) and Christmas)...

In Mexico even the ”non-practicing” Catholics feel a tug at their hearts and spirits at this time, after all, we didn’t leave God and the Saints by deciding not to worship in Church)...

with that mind, many Mexicans who generally purchase each issue will forgoe Decembers issue as they take a small spiritual journey (hipocrytic? Yes..Rare, unheard of? No.)back to their roots and beliefs..

This year Playboy found a way to not only maintain there sales, but INCREASE them...

On January 6th, Mexico celebrates ”Dia de Los Reyes”: Kings Day, when the kings came to gift baby Jesus...I can only imaagine what next months issue will have in store for us: A hot Mexican....three kings...gifts? It’s already a TOP SELLING scenario!!!!!

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

My banker friend is currently on a one-week holiday he bought on the latest NASA shuttle mission so I’ll call him when he lands. (He hates being disturbed while he’s having fun. Who can blame him?)

With what we’re gonna earn, my friend, your wife will be able to put a bunny tail on the pimping van, and a furry coat too. The kids could have Manhattan apartments to take their friends to, and you could bury the dogs in Arlington with full military honours!!!
